Book Acknowledgements

Acknowledgements

As with most writings, there are many people who contributed their time and expertise to this text. A special thank you goes to our colleague and friend Eric Swank, associate professor at Morehead State University, Kentucky, who read every chapter of two revisions to provide us with feedback on content and organization, and to our wonderful and dedicated research assistant, Lynn Embleton, who put in countless hours to see this text come to completion. We also want to thank our research students at Morehead State University (both the Morehead and Prestonsburg campuses) who provided feedback while this text was being piloted, and one student in particular, Melissa Caldwell, who took part of her summer to lend a student perspective. Our gratitude goes to David Follmer, publisher of Lyceum Books, for supporting the production of this book, to Tom Meenaghan, advisory editor, for some excellent advice prior to our final rewrite, and to Sonia Fulop, for the necessary and important developmental and copy edits. Special thanks go to our children (Wayne, Shay, Christina, Alisa, McKennzie, and Ezra) for inspiring us to be lifelong learners and our eight grandchildren (so far) for helping us stay young. “I can do everything through God who gives me strength” (Phil. 4.13).
